Ink Flow

Ink in the studio’s blues folds over itself, forever, and gathers toward your pointer.

Move your pointer over the ink, or focus it and use the arrow keys.

How it’s made

The whole picture is one shader running on one triangle that covers the screen. For each pixel it samples layered noise, then uses that noise to bend where it samples next (domain warping), twice; that is what makes the folds look like ink rather than clouds.

Near the pointer, the sample point is pulled toward it, so the ink seems to gather there. The pull fades in and out rather than switching on.

Phones draw at half resolution, since every pixel is a small calculation.
